 THE STORY

Why we love what we do

St-Mungos-Church-Vision-portrait_edited.jpg

St Mungo’s Church has a Vision Talk each year, that gives the church direction and spiritual focus for the following 12 months. Our Rector Ollie Clegg said in his 2021 vision service

St Mungo’s is a church family who look to Be Love, as we are loved. Together as we take up the call of Jesus to; Abide in His love, Be Transformed by the Holy Spirit, Go with the Good News of the Kingdom of God. We will be able to Be Love, as we are loved.

He asked Kirsten Thomson to illustrate this vision. We are now familiar with this wonderful image.

We have been asked by St Mungos to offer merchandise with this image to help inspire and remind us all to "Be Love".

Kirsten says about this piece of art

The background, in St Mungo's colours, represents God's Kingdom in the world. The circle is the Church, with God as trinity right at the heart. "Abide" represented by the vines, "Transform" by the tessellating pattern, "Go" by the lines and triangles. All three intrinsically connected and with God's love infused throughout. Everything is active and purposeful, making possible the experience of His love and empowering God's call to "Be Love".

During the Covid pandemic St Mungo's has gone on-line and developed a service aimed at primary age children and their significant adults - Mighty Mungos. We were asked to offer merchandise for our young (and not so young) community to enable them to celebrate and share visually their exciting on-line service.

Read more about these on the St Mungo's website.
